An all Original 1960s kit.
Every once in a blue moon In this business you run across a Drumkit like this Ludwig Sparkling Burgundy 1966 Downbeat kit. This Drumset came to me with all the items just as you would see it in the 1967 catalog. I am pleased to say this drumset is the last word, The trump card, as it were if you are talking pure beautiful drumsets In a hard to find color. It is here. Complete with some rare as can be cymbals that came with it.
Now I am going to tell you that all of the items are original to this drumset. Don't confuse this with the term factory original which is used by other dealers to get around the truth. When they use that term it very well could mean, yes this repro part is factory original from some factory, maybe not the Ludwig factory and certainly not on the day the kit they are selling left that factory.
This kit really is Ludwig November 1966 original. It all came together every lug, rim, tension rod, washer, t-handle rod, claw, Rim, head, mount, spur, tone control, etc. Was assembled on this kit the day it was born.
I Believe for a couple of reasons this kit was either built for one hard nosed customer and walked through the factory or that it was possibly the first run of Burgundy Sparkle.
#1 all drums are date stamped either Nov 12/1966 or Nov 15/1966 snare reads Nov smudge 1966. It is very rare to have a kit produced that close together. I have seen a lot of kits this is rare.
#2 all drums have small initials inside like they were signed off by quality control or the builders, the snare and 1 tom have a small R and the bass and tom have hard to read but small gk or ct initials inside.
#3 The cymbals are incredible and were not picked by some random player. Try these specs out.
Here are the goodies.
